the way trees die

or large heavy organisms

silently but so

that the surrounding space rippled

from each of my mother’s exhalations

I see death but I don’t see the rest

it is stitched like light through our furious world

flawless world like a light lucent chaos

the world is flawless as though it were the head

of a hideous yellow monster like a beast it is flawless

like the head of my now forever dead mother dead

or her turned-up yellowish nose
